Serious allegations of land grabbing, criminal intimidation, and police inaction under alleged political protection have surfaced after a Karnataka woman approached the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) seeking urgent intervention.
In a complaint submitted to the PMO, the victim has alleged that influential individuals linked to the ruling establishment in Karnataka are attempting to forcibly seize land associated with families connected to the Mother Sonia Gandhi World Welfare Committee, a trust operating in the name of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The complainant has travelled to Delhi, appealing for protection from the Karnataka Chief Minister and his associates.
Victim Alleges Political Patronage Behind Land Dispute
The complainant, *Dr. Sushma Amithaab, a 26-year-old resident of Mysuru district, has alleged repeated threats, physical assault, an attempt to rape, and sustained police apathy. According to her complaint, the accused allegedly enjoy political patronage from *Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, due to which law-enforcement agencies have allegedly failed to take decisive action.

Dr. Amithaab stated that her mother-in-law legally purchased land in Hebya village in 2007, which was duly registered with the *Thandavapura Gram Panchayat. The power of attorney for the property was granted to her husband, *Amithaab A. She alleged that soon after the purchase, local individuals began threatening the family with the intention of extorting money and illegally grabbing the land.
Court Order Ignored, Threats Continue
According to the complaint, the land dispute escalated when her husband was allegedly physically assaulted, forcing him to approach the JMFC Court, Nanjangudu, seeking a permanent injunction. The court passed an order in their favour; however, despite the judicial directive, the alleged miscreants continued to intimidate and harass the family.
Threats of Rape and Child Kidnapping Alleged
The complaint further states that around six months ago, the accused allegedly blocked the victim’s vehicle and threatened to rape her and kidnap her four-year-old son. When the family approached the local police, an FIR was allegedly not registered, and only a non-cognizable report was recorded.
Attempted Sexual Assault and Assault on Husband
Dr. Amithaab has alleged that on *January 18, 2026, at around *9:00 PM, the accused trespassed into her residence and attempted to sexually assault her. When her husband intervened, he was allegedly beaten brutally, sustaining serious head injuries. The attackers allegedly vandalised the house and car, snatched her mobile phone, issued death threats, and fled the scene.
She further claimed that despite multiple emergency calls, police personnel did not arrive during the incident. Even the following day, police officials allegedly hesitated to register an FIR. After sustained pressure, a case was reportedly registered only for attempt to rape, while no FIR was filed regarding the alleged attempt to murder her husband.

No Arrests, Limited Police Protection
The complaint also alleges that the accused continued to threaten the victim’s minor son even in the presence of police officials. Despite this, no arrests have been made so far. The victim stated that after escalating the matter to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) level, police protection was provided for only three days.

Allegations Against Local Administration
In her letter to the PMO, Dr. Amithaab has also accused sections of the local administration and certain Panchayat-level officials of indirectly supporting the accused, forcing her family to live under constant fear and insecurity.
Demand for PMO and Congress Leadership Intervention
Seeking urgent intervention, the victim has appealed for permanent police protection for her family, strict action against erring police officials, registration of all relevant criminal cases under serious sections of law, and an impartial and independent investigation into the entire matter. She has also urged the Prime Minister and the top leadership of the Congress party to intervene to ensure justice and safety.
